Diagnostic Assessment
When there is a known or suspected substance abuse, mental health or developmental disability diagnosis, an in-depth Assessment determines the appropriate treatment.
Court-Ordered Assessments, education and treatment are provided by ARP for those convicted of substance abuse-related offenses as well as for parents who are required to obtain treatment in order to be reunited with their families.
Outpatient Treatment
DWI Offenders mandated to undergo a clinical Assessment to determine the type of education and treatment needed often choose ARP as their treatment provider. Their reasons include our person-centered approach, low cost and non-judgmental attitude.
ADETS A substance abuse or DWI Assessment may indicate that ADETS (alcohol and drug education traffic school) is the best treatment option. This popular 16-hour program uses the Prime for Life curriculum to help people understand the psychological and physical aspects of addiction as well as the factors that may lead to dependence. The program will soon be a mandated course for DWI offenders
Short-Term/Intermediate - 30 to 90 hours - during the assessment, an individualized treatment recommendation is made and the number of hours of treatment depends on the severity of use and consequences. Clients are expected to attend 12-Step meetings to explore the benefits of ongoing recovery support. Morning and evening hours are offered as well as a payment plan.
Intensive Outpatient Program IOP provides treatment for clients who need additional structure and support. It consists of two phases: Primary Care, which meets 3 times weekly for 20 sessions, followed by Continuing Care, meeting once weekly for seven sessions. Three-hour sessions include psycho-education and group therapy. Clients are expected to attend 12-Step meetings to explore the benefits of ongoing recovery support. The length of treatment is determined by client needs. Additional services include: multi-family group, individual counseling, crisis intervention and case management. Aftercare Group is provided weekly for clients required by specific agencies to complete longer-term treatment. IOP clients can choose either morning or evening sessions. Sliding fees and payment plans are available.
Stimulant users including methamphetamine and cocaine - 52 weeks - MATRIX is an intensive program approved by the State of North Carolina for methamphetamine and cocaine users and their families. Individual and group counseling sessions occur three times per week during the first 14 weeks, followed by 38 weekly support sessions to help individuals transition to a drug-free lifestyle. For individuals who meet the qualifications, MATRIX is provided at no charge.
Integrated Services for Co-Occurring Disorders are for people who have both mental illness (including anxiety and depression) as well as a substance abuse disorder. We help them become aware of the connection between their emotional state and substance use and offer counseling and psychiatric support to improve all aspects of their lives.
Transition - Behavioral change is a long-term process. In our after-care program, clients attend weekly group meetings and are introduced to resources for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and continued sobriety. We help with transition across various levels of care. Discharge planning and coordination is offered to everyone.
Mental Health Crisis Stabilization and Detox - These services are available at the Neil Dobbins Center, a 24-hour medically-supervised residential facility.
Psychiatric Medication Management focuses on improvement and continued stabilization of an individual's level of functioning and alleviation of biologically based psychiatric symptoms that interfere with functioning.
Working within the work force - ARP works closely with businesses to help employees whose personal lives and productivity have been affected by dependence on alcohol or other drugs. Screenings, drug testing, substance abuse assessments and treatment options are offered directly to employers and through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). These options allow employers to retain valued workers and reduce costs related to absenteeism.
Residential Treatment
Mary Benson House Mary Benson House offers a homelike environment for pregnant women or mothers who are substance addicted.
Neil Dobbins Center Neil Dobbins Center Drug and Alcohol Detoxification and Mental Health Crisis Stabilization offers short-term residential assessment, treatment, group and individual therapy as well as an aftercare plan linking clients to community support services. NDC offers 24-hour medical supervision.
