Locations
Mary Benson House (MBH) is a home-like setting that provides 24-hour housing and substance abuse treatment for adult pregnant and/or parenting women and their children from birth to five years old. Our goal is to ensure that healthy babies are born while helping mothers move toward recovery and maintain a stable, sober, independent life with their children. MBH serves Western North Carolina. Last year we supported 24 individuals with residential treatment.
Our referring partners and concerned family members trust MBH because:
- We provide a safe place for our mothers and children.
- We offer an opportunity for women to re-learn what they may have forgotten during their addiction and to learn new and better parenting skills.
- We diligently advocate for our women in the areas of legal issues, housing and employment and help them access any community or government benefits to which they may be entitled.
- We have a highly qualified, licensed clinical staff.
- We work with women on developing and enhancing life skills such as job seeking or pursuing a high school diploma or GED. We assist women who are returning to school for advance technical training that will help them re-enter the workforce.
- We utilize a team approach with local providers, clinicians, case manager and support staff to meet our women’s individual needs.
- Our support staff provide for the everyday needs of our mothers and their children - from transportation and child care assistance to meal preparation.
- Our treatment approaches are clinically sound and scientifically proven.
- MBH treats only 7 women at one time, offering an intimate community setting and one-on-one attention.
- In order to ensure that there is a support system in place for each woman after she leaves MBH, we work with families to help them understand what addiction is and how it affects the family as a whole.
- MBH has been prestigiously awarded a three-year accreditation by The Council of Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Throughout the rigorous accreditation review, clinical programming received consistent praise and no areas were identified for improvement.
